Paul Schockemöhle and VDL stud's licensed stallion Zenon VDL has been sold to an investor in Dubai as an Asian Games hopeful for UAE rider Mohammed Jassim al Serkal.
Zenon is a 2014 KWPN bred stallion by Zonik out of Anna Frank VDL (by Don Schufro x Lorentinà) He is bred by VDL stud in The Netherlands.
The Name Game
Originally named Jaquette VDL, the black stallion became a premium foal at the 2014 KWPN Foal inspection in Harich.
The stallion was first presented by his breeder VDL Stud at the 2016 Westfalian stallion licensing in Munster but not accepted. He was also presented at the late pre-selection in December 2016 for the 2017 KWPN stallion licensing and not picked.
In November 2017 Jaquette proved his qualities under saddle and finished third in the 50-day performance test in Adelheidsdorf with 8.66 points. Shortly afterwards he was approved for Hanoverian and Oldenburg breeding in December 2017.
Paul Schockemöhle became involved in the stallion and stood him up at stud in Mühlen, Germany. The stallion's name switched to Zenon VDL. So far he has sired 71 offspring registered for sport or breeding in Germany and has 5 licensed sons (Zarenballn Zelebration I and II, Zenello, and a still nameless one born in 2021 out of a Top Gear dam).
Sport Career

In 2023 Isabel Freese took over the ride and showed him at small tour level at three shows in Ankum. In 2024 it was Margarete Werle's turn to present him at two local shows in south Germany. Zenon returned to Mühlen where American Brandi Roenick took over the ride to show him more extensively at small tour level at regional shows in the area.
Sold to Dubai
Zenon VDL sold to the Dubai investing company Eqvilent trading Ltd as an Asian Games hopeful for UAE rider Mohammed Jassim Al Serkal.
Al Serkal made his international show debut on the stallion in January 2026 at the CDI Dubai, placing second twice. He then presented the stallion under the name Jaquette VDL, at three consecutive CDI's in Abu Dhabi in January and February 2026 to obtain his MER scores for the Asian Games.

"Being part of such an incredible competition, surrounded by so many talented combinations from Europe, Asian and ofcourse my peers from the UAE, was truly special," said Al Serkal. "Considering that Zenny arrived in Europe only the day before and went directly to the showgrounds, I believe the travel took a lot out of him, and it showed throughout the weekend. His body needed more time to recover and settle, and unfortunately we couldn’t show the level we normally perform at."
Al Serkal, who trains with Dominique Filion when he's in Europe, already returned to the UAE with his horse. "He is now back in his stable recovering well, and we will go back to the drawing board to plan our next competitions as we continue pushing toward selection for the UAE Team at the Asian Games," he concluded.
