The Oldenburg Saddle Licensing in Vechta has proven to be a significant launchpad for breeding and top-level competition. Numerous top stallions have been discovered here and went on to become celebrated stars on the national and international stage.
Stars from the Saddle Licensing
This is how, for example, the impressive careers of successful sport sires such as Fynch Hatton OLD, born in 2016, by Formel Eins out of St.Pr.St. Senorita Meyer by Sir Donnerhall, bred by Bernhard Ilting-Reuke, Borken, who distinguished himself as Oldenburg State and National Champion of four-year-old stallions and has already sired nearly a dozen licensed sons, during the saddle licensing at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta.
Also Fürsten-Look, born 2011, by El.H. Fürstenball OLD out of Lady Diamond by Londonderry, breeder: Johannes Sabel, Gersten, whose son Drosa Fürst Kennedy OLD represented Oldenburg at last year’s European Championships in Crozet, demonstrated his exceptional talent early on and won the bronze medal at the World Championships for seven-year-old dressage horses as well as in the final of the Nuremberg Burg Cup. The sought-after sire is now winning in advanced dressage classes.
Another outstanding example is Best of Gold, born in 2009, by Belissimo M out of the elite mare Evelyn by Diamond Hit, breeder: Silvia Gering, Ostercappeln, the champion stallion of the 2013 saddle licensing in Vechta, who has celebrated successes in S***-level dressage competitions. His daughter Edwina Gold was named Reserve Champion in Rastede in 2024.
Last but not least, the 2018 Champion Stallion Zac Efron MT OLD, born in 2015, by Zack out of Elite/Vb.Pr.St. Ehrina II by Don Larino, breeder: Hermann Schildt, Ovelgönne, underscores the significance of this event. He, too, now leads the field in advanced dressage competitions.
Tomorrow's Stars
The fact that tomorrow’s stars are already being discovered here is also evident in the current lot: Catalog number 104 features the handsome black Dahlmann, born in 2022, by Debutant PS out of Salomé d’Amour by San Amour I, bred by Daniela Graé, Senden. His sire, Debutant PS, is successful in S-level dressage classes, while his granddam already produced a horse placed in M-level dressage with San Felice by San Amour I. The extended dam line also impresses with its performance potential. The great-granddam produced three S-level dressage horses: Rospoli by Rotspon, Dimitros G by Don Index, and Fleur d’amour by Finnigan. Furthermore, this line has produced stallions approved at the Antipathie and successful in Grand Prix competitions, such as Fürst Khevenhüller by Florestan I and Don Corleone by Donnerhall. This track record is complemented by Bohemian by Bon Coeur, a 2021 World Championship finalist in the young dressage horse category, as well as Founder FH by El.H. Foundation, who has been successful in advanced dressage classes.
Another promising young talent is the beautiful Fortunato (catalog number 109 - pictured above), born in 2022, by Follow Him's Schönweide out of Vb.Pr.St. Rheingold TS by Dancier, bred by Pauline Lindemann, Essen, from the proven line 173. His sire, Follow Him’s Schönweide, was a premium stallion at the 2017 Oldenburg Stallion Days and was the celebrated winner of the Oldenburg Grand Premium in 2019. Fortunato is also well-backed on his dam’s side: His dam, Rheingold, has already produced a licensed son, First Date by El.H. Fürstenball, who is holding his own in Class M dressage competitions. The dam line has also produced numerous successful sport horses, including licensed stallions such as Dream of Glory by Donnerhall and Divizioso MT by Dancier, both of whom are successful up to Intermediaire I, as well as other notable representatives such as Capitol I to III by Capitano, Landcapitol by Landadel, and Eminence HW by Escamillo.
Bearing catalog number 115, Sir Secret, born in 2023, by Secret out of the Pr.St. Susetta by Spörcken, bred by Julia and Dr. Arndt-Friedrich Echte of Hameln, hails from the renowned mare line of Alkyone II. His sire, Secret, won the 2020 German National Championships for six-year-old dressage horses and was already the 2019 World Reserve Champion for young dressage horses in Ermelo. His dam, Susetta, also boasts impressive performance credentials: she has already produced a competitor for the 2023 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in the form of Frido by Finest. The great-granddam Mette produced further successful offspring in Ribery by Rotspon (M** dressage) and Don Bencedor van het Lisperhof by Don Frederico (M dressage). The dam line is also highly successful internationally; among others, Dundee by Don Frederico shines in Intermediaire II classes, while Furby de la Ferme Rose by Fürst Nymphenburg, Somerhall and Sunshine by Sir Donnerhall I, as well as Romy Lou K by Rascalino, compete up to S** dressage.
