Danish youth team rider Maria Mejlgaard Jensen said goodbye to her Under 25 horse Midsummer Jazz.
Midsummer Jazz was a 15-year old Danish warmblood by Jazz out of top broodmare Trøstruplund's Scarlet (by Don Schufro x Romancier). He was bred by Poul Fabricius-Bjerre.

The start of Jazz' competition career happened rather late in the gelding's life as he was 8 when he first went down the centerline at the CDN Hørsholm in June 2018. Finnish Terhi Lehtimaki showed him in an MB-test.
Three years later he returned to the arena under Danish young rider Maria Mejlgaard Jensen, who purchased the horse in 2018. She debuted him in December 2021 in Roskilde, also at MB-level. In 2022 they gained mileage at that level in Denmark, while he moved up to Prix St Georges level in the early autumn of 2024.
The pair rode its first Under 25 Intermediaire II test in November 2024. At the 2025 Danish Under 25 Championships they finished sixth overall and were nominated on the Danish team for the 2025 Nordic Baltic Championships in Ypaja, Finland, the horse's first international. They placed fourth in the short Grand Prix and Kur to music and won team silver. Their last show was in August in Harlev.
Untimely Passing
Unfortunately Mejlgaard had to say goodbye to Jazz, which she nicknamed Dino.
"And suddenly the last goodbye was said," she took to Instagram. "Thank you for every moment with your silly, loving and caring heart. Thank you for teaching me that trust is earned by patience - and the trust we had was truly special. Never in a million years would I have thought what we accomplished was possible."
Maria added to Eurodressage, "we’re not sure exactly what the diagnosis was, but we did everything we could and his pain still couldn’t be relieved entirely, so he got peace very early this morning."
