The German Equestrian Federation has appointed Hendrik Lochthowe as the the new German senior co-team trainer.

The 45-year old Lochthowe succeeds the late Jonny Hilberath, who passed away suddenly on 5 March 2025.

Horses have shaped his life since childhood. The dressage trainer completed his training as a horse manager with his uncle Norbert Lochthowe and passed his examination to become a master horse manager in 2003. In addition to Jonny Hilberath, he was influenced primarily by junior national coach Hans-Heinrich Meyer zu Strohen, riding master Wolfram Wittig, and the Swiss dressage trainer Silvia Iklé.

His professional career has included the Harli Seifert Stallion Station in Löningen, Silvia Iklé's training stable in Switzerland, the Meggle family's Georgihof in Wasserburg, and most recently, the Riedmühle Stud in Butzbach. He is now self-employed in Recklinghausen. Lochthowe also works as a dressage judge up to S** level.

"I love riding and teaching. Developing myself for the horses gives me joy. Passing on this knowledge and the feeling of how easy good riding feels motivates me. I'm very happy to be supporting Monica Theodorescu in her work going forward," Hendrik Lochthowe told the FN.
