American Horses Selected for 2025 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

US Equestrian announced the combinations which will represent the U.S.A at the 2025 World Championship for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany.

The WCYH will be held from August 5-10, 2025.

The American pairs will be accompanied by USEF Dressage Technical Advisor & Chef d’Equipe, Christine Traurig. 

Three pairs achieved the qualification scores and agreed to undertake the largely self-funded trip to Europe. They are:

5-year olds

  • Rebecca Rigdon on Stay Cool, a Hanoverian gelding (Secret x Don Darius), owned by Ad Astra Collective and bred by Johann and Dorothea Schröder

6-year olds

  • Hope Cooper on O Romeo S, a  KWPN-NA gelding (by Charmeur x UB40 x Sandro Hit), owned by Tammy Richard and bred by Sonnenberg Farm.
     
  • Caroline Roffman on Onassis, a KWPN-NA stallion (by Secret x Etoine), owned and bred by Hyperion Farm

The 5-year old Stay Cool qualified for Verden based on national level scores. She rode him in 9 national tests in 2025 with results between 71.11% and 85.80%

The 6-year olds O Romeo S and Onassis both achieved national results in Wellington this winter with O Romeo's national high score being 83.2% and Onassis's high score being 89%. These two also competed in the international young horse classes at the 2025 Global Dressage Festival.  Roffmann and Onassis scored 80.00 and 80.20 in their first and only CDI show at the end of March. Cooper rode three CDI's with O Romeo S and scored between 78.20 and 83.80%
