Charlotte Fry's Especial, one of five horses she is actively competing at Grand Prix level, has been sold to Sweden.

Fry has been competing Glamourdale, Everdale, Nespresso, and Justin at CDI big tour level this year.

Jochie VZH

Especial is an 11-year old KWPN gelding by Everdale out of Ethel (by Vivaldi x San Remo). He is bred by C. van Bavel.

Originally named Jochie VZH, the grey was sourced as a youngster by Dutch horse dealer Peter de Boer who sold him to Gert-Jan Van Olst.

He was rejected at the pre-selection for the 2017 KWPN Stallion Licensing, but accepted by the NRPS studbook after his performance test. Jochie was renamed "Especial" after getting licensed with the NRPS.

The horse was first competed in national young horse classes by Benjamin Maljaars, including the 2018 Young Dressage Talents show.

In 2021 the grey premiered under Charlotte Fry at international small tour level at the CDI Exloo, followed by the 2022 CDI Lier.  He made the transition to international Grand Prix level at the 2023 CDI Ermelo, where he scored 73.044% in his first CDI GP test. That autumn he also went to Leeuwarden and Kronenberg with 69.630% and 70.804% GP scores.

The duo competed through 2024 with Start in Lier, Aachen, Ermelo and Kronenberg. The latter show in November 2024 was their last. They placed 7th in the Grand Prix with 69.630%.

Sold to Sweden

Dressprod first reported the sale of Especial to Charlotte Haid-Bondergaard in Sweden.

At the 2023 CDI Ermelo
Haid Bondergaard is a long-time international Grand Prix rider, having competed horses such as FBW Lonevan, Lydianus, Triviant, Roberto des Frettes, Don Scudo, and Dixiland at international big tour level. Her last CDI was three years ago at the 2022 CDI Gössendorf.

Charlotte has been battling skin cancer but is now on the mend.  "When I was going to start riding again I fell in the spa and broke my ankle," Charlotte told Eurodressage. "But now all this has to end as I have so many new nice horses."

Last summer Haid acquired another grey Grand Prix hopeful, the 8-year old Lusitano Nilo TVF.
