Schermeer Hof's Aladin, an international dressage pony who took four different riders into the CDI ring, has passed away. He was 29 years old
Aladin was a Dutch bred Welsh pony by Cupkehof Winobert out of Black Star's Ramona (by Flora's Hof Minstrel x Purpur ox). He was bred by Mr. Barendregt.
Mara de Vries
The chestnut pony first came into the spotlight under Dutch Mara de Vries, who trained by Coby van Baalen at the time.
She competed him internationally between 2004 and 2005 at CDI's in Beek, Saumur, Wouwse Plantage
Brison Family
In October 2005 he sold to the Brison family as an 8-year old for their two daughters to ride
Eldest daughter Saidja Brison took over the ride first and campaigned him at the 2006 CDI's in Aach, Pompadour, Weikersdorf and the 2007 CDI's in Le Touquet, Saumur, and Herentals. The pair was named first reserve for the Belgian team for the 2007 European Pony Championships. The pair's last show was the CDN Moorsele in September 2007.
As Saidja moved on to horses with Moliere, younger sister Soraya began caring for him, but never showed the pony nationally.
Schoolmaster
Aladin ended up becoming a schoolmaster for two more riders and made his come back to the competition ring in 2013 after a six-year break from showing.
Inne Peytier first showed hum at the CDN Kasterlee in September 2013 and enabled the pony's return to the international stage at the 2014 CDI Compiegne. At the 2014 Flander Dressage Event in Hulsterlo they were 6th in the Kur. Peytier gave up competition sport in 2018 and is now a physical therapist.
In 2015 Marieke van Nespen took over the reins and she rode him to a fourth place at the 2015 Belgian Pony Championships. The pair continued to gain mileage through 2016, their last show being in Hulsterlo in November 2016. Van Nespen is now a young rider aboard Just Cavalli P.
With all four Belgian riders in his career he was trained under the supervision of Carmen de Bondt.
Retirement
Aladin was retired from sport after that and spent the rest of his days in the loving care of the Brison family.
He was put to sleep at age 29 on 10 April 2025.
