German professional young horse rider Johanna Klippert has made the step to independence. After 1.5 years riding for Hedda Droege-Ottmann, she has gone solo.

Droege confirmed to Eurodressage that "Johanna will leave our barn at the end of March." A new assistant has not been announced yet.

Riding in Westfalia

Born and raised in Kassel (GER) and first schooled as a rider at Hof Kasselmann,  the 40-year old Johanna built her career as a young horse rider in the Westfalia area.

She began working for Stallion Station Holkenbrink and piloted Franziskus (by Fidertanz x Alabaster) to the 2012 Bundeschampionate title. She achieved two further silver medals at the Bundeschampionate with Hollister (by Hotline x Don Frederico) in 2014  and Fashion in Black (by For Romance x Lauries Crusador xx) in 2019. The latter stallion she rode in her first and only CDI so far, the 2020 CDI Hagen.

After ten years at Holkenbrink, Klippert moved to Hof Borgmann in April 2021 and stayed there for 1.5 years. In the summer of 2022 she accepted a riding position at Hedda Droege's stable in Saerbeck. In 2023 she competed Droege's horses Elvira (by El Salvador x Bon Bravour), Bonnie (by Benicio x Florestan), Stevie Wonder (by Secret x Dimaggio), and Carinski (by Champagner x Christ).

Solo

At the 2020 CDI Hagen
Klippert has now decided to go solo and will move to Ansgar Westrup's yard, where also Helen Langehanenberg and Henrike Sommer began their career.

"I have my horses at the barn of Westrup. It's very nice here," she told Eurodressage. "I had been thinking about my own little business with a couple of horses and some students and do some clinics in Germany and in different countries." Johanna also works together with a fitness company "which does a lot of physical training to get more stability in the body."

Klippert's mot recent competition start  was in Warendorf-Freckenhorst on 5 March 2024 with Michael Schmitz' now gelded Indianapolis (by Indian Rock x Fidertanz), which she has been riding since 2021. She told Eurodressage that she will take mare Despacita  (by Download x Ehrenmarsch) and stallion Franz Hermann (by Franziskus x Sir Heinrich) with her to the new stable.
