Luxembourg's Emma-Lou Becca said goodbye to her career starting, international Children's ride Wyomi. The mare was 20 years old.

Wyomi was a Hanoverian mare by Weltmeyer out of Danny Lou (by Denberg x Fruhspecht). She was bred by Ludwig Penning.

Germany

The mare's competition career began in Germany in 2005 when she was first competed as a 4-year old by Heidi Egbert.  The combination was tighly knit and campaigned consistently at regional shows. In 2009 they moved up to small tour level and in 2012 they did their first Grand Prix tests.

Luxembourg

In 2013 the mare sold to Luxembourg and was first competed by Alexandra Hidien in April 2014 at Prix St Georges level before junior rider Emma-Lou Becca took on the ride.

Becca made her show debut on Wyomi at the local show in Kurtscheid in May 2014, competing at A-level and finishing second. Their international debut was at Children's level at the CDI Saumur in May 2015. The combination competed at the inaugural 2015 European Children Championship in Vidauban, where they finished 22nd.

In August 2015 Vanessa Siep competed the mare at small tour level in the area, before Becca climbed back on board in 2016. Siep and Becca alternated the ride for a year.

In 2016 they returned to the CDI Saumur, followed by the 2016 Children Europeans in Oliva Nova, where they were 10th in the individual finals.

Their last year together was 2017 when the mare was 16 years old. They showed at the CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland, and then at the 2017 CDI Mariakalnok in April, which turned out to be their last show together.

Cushing

Wyomi was retired from sport after that and enjoyed three good years of retirement.

Unfortunately she was diagnosed with Cushing's disease and got laminitis.

"We sent her to a hospital specialised for laminitis in Germany because we thought we could save her since she was my first horse, I rode my first international competition with her and my first European championship when I was 12 years old," Becca told Eurodressage. "So as she was suffering a lot and couldn’t even stand up anymore we decided to let her go."
