U.S. Tokyo Olympic team candidate Nick Wagman has moved house. After fourteen years being based at Clear Spring Farm in Rancho Santa Fe, California, the athlete has packed up his business and relocated at B&B Farm in the same town.

B&B Farm

B&B farm is owned by the Boehning family and is also in Rancho Sante Fe, which is near Del Mar, north of San Diego.

That yard was once owned by the Leatherdales and the West coast base of former U.S. team rider Sue Blinks, before she moved to Florida.

"Clear Spring Farm has been sold, and so I’m relocating my business to B&B Farm," Wagman told Eurodressage. "I am going to miss Clear Spring Farm, but am looking forward to see what the next chapter has in store. "

Nick's number one Grand Prix horse, Don John, will not move with him as the horse is not stabled with Wagman.

"Don John lives at his owner, Beverly Gepfer’s home in Rancho Santa Fe, so he does not need to make the move," Wagman explained.

Back on Track

Wagman, who is the 2019 U.S. Grand Prix Champion, saw his Tokyo Olympic hopes dashed in the early spring of 2020 when his top ride Don John sustained an injury which put them out of the running for U.S. team selection. However, Covid-19 came and the pandemic postponed the Olympics by a year.

This extra time was ideal for the 12-year old Dutch warmblood (by Johnson x Goodtimes) who was able to recover and be reconsidered for an Olympic team spot.

"Don John is recovering very well, and is back in full training. He feels great," said Nick. "My plan is to take him to the national shows in Indio next month to get him off the property and back in a show environment, and then head to Florida in January where we will begin our bid for Tokyo."

Wagman also has a second iron in the fire, Elizabeth Keadle's 10-year old KWPN gelding Ferano (by Scandic x Parcival).

"I will also be taking Ferano to Indio next month where he will do his first CDI at Grand Prix, and will also be going to Florida to compete in the qualifiers there," he added.
