Former German young riders team member Leonie Richter has received the ride on the Warendorf state stud owned First Selection.

First Selection is a 13-year old Westfalian stallion by First Final x Fidermark x Dialekt. He is bred by Werner Lürweg.

The bay was approved at the 2009 Westfalian Stallion Licensing and scored 127.32 points in his 70-day stallion performance test. First Selection has sired two licensed offspring so far (Flashdane) and 10 daughters are state premium mares.

He was first competed as a 3-year old by Rebekka Rösler. A year later Peter Borggreve took over the ride and showed the stallion at the 2011 and 2012 Bundeschampionate. In 2015 he moved to small tour level. Martin Stamkötter began competing him in 2017 at Grand Prix level through 2019.

The 24-year old Richter has now received the ride on First Selection as a potential Under 25 horse.

Richter began her international career as a junior rider on Babylon (by Belissimo M x Florestan) in 2014. She moved to Young Riders level in 2015 and also showed Salvator (by Sir Donnerhall x Fidermark) that year. Babylon, however, remained her loyal mount and she showed him through 2017. Their career highlight was winning team gold at the 2016 European Young Riders Championships in Oliva Nova, Spain, where they also got individual bronze and kur silver.

Richter's last international on Babylon was the 2017 CDIO-YR Hagen, after which the horse sold to Elisabeth von Wulffen. Salvator sold in 2015 to Korean Yoora Chung.
