Valegro's retirement was only last night and the KWPN society took advantage of the moment to announce that the KWPN bred double Olympic Champion will appear at the 2017 KWPN Stallion Licensing to say goodbye to his Dutch fans.

Dujardin and Valegro will be performing at the 2017 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, on 4 February 2017.

"He's got fans all over the world," said Dujardin. "We want to give them the change to see him one more in action. At Olympia Valegro had his official retirement from the English public, but now it's time for him to return to his birth ground. It was heart warming to see how many sweet, fun reactions I've got from Holland after the successes in Rio. Valegro deserves that because he's a special horse."

Valegro's breeders Maartje and Hans Joppe were presented at Olympia in London and will most likely attend the Dutch ceremony as well.

"We still have a good contact with his breeders and are very enthusiastic about the quality and rideability of the KWPN horses," Dujardin added. "We believe that the KWPN Stallion Show is a beautiful stage for Valegro to say goodbye to Holland."
