Foal auction season is in full swing in Europe with auctions happening throughout the weekend and even on weekdays in Germany and The Netherlands. More auctions are coming up this month.
At the 2016 Luhmuhlen foal auction the dark bay filly by Buckingham x Conthargos sold for the top hammer price of 23,000 euro. Danish clients bought the mare.
Four foals in total out of a collection of 52 sold for more than 10,000 euro. The second most expensive foal was a black colt by Le Vivaldi x Rotspon, which moved to the north of Germany for 17,200 euro.
A dark bay colt by Borsalino x De Niro sold to Brandenburg for 13,000 euro and buyers from Lower Saxony paid the same price for a bay olt by Furstenball x Furst Nymphenburg.
The average price for a foal at this auction was 5,296 euro.
