The licensed Trakehner breeding stallions Zauberfurst and Schiffon have both passed away due to colic. Both stallions were operated on but could not be saved.

Bred by Elke Sochtig, the licensed Zauberfurst was by Interconti x Caprimond. He was was approved in 2006 and sold at auction to Beate Heise. Under Friederike Schulz-Wallner he qualified for the Bundeschampionate three years in a row (2007 - 2009), and actually competed at the 2007 and 2008 Bundeschampionate. He was successful up to national Inter I level. Zauberfurst bred only lightly but sired three state premium mares. Not long ago the stallion sustained a pelvic fracture but recovered from it to stand back at stud.

Schiffon (by Anduc x Mago xx x Bergsturm) is bred by Breeders Group Loeber in Denmark and was owned by American Lea Ann Hansen. The 21-year old Schiffon was licensed in 1997 and was one of the last approved Anduc offspring. He sold at auction to Hof Heitholm. The stallion did his 100-day performance test in Radegast. He was competed up to national Prix St Georges level by Gunda Jacobsen, Olaf Müller and later on his American owner Hansen.

Schiffon was never really popular as a breeding stallion but produced some striking offspring. His most renowned offspring includes mare Wintermarchen (who produced Windsor), Inverness and Inura (by who produced Iceman). He also sired three licensed sons: Tanzpartner (South Africa), Herzglanz (Germany), and Velluto (USA).

"I'm very sad to say that I had to euthanize my soulmate Schiffon this morning (12 April)," said owner Lea Ann Hansen. "With colic on top of struggles he had related to arthritis, I couldn't let him suffer. Starting 9 years and 11 months ago, this horse gave me his everything. Schiffi gave me confidence and passion to ride when I had lost most of it."
