Faustino and Bellman stood out at the first Swedish selection trial for team representation at the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany, on 1 - 5 August 2012. This first of two Swedish trials took place in Flyinge and featured a group of eighteen 5- and 6-year olds.
Mia Runesson and the Swedish licensed stallion Faustino (by Figaro R x Bernstein) stood out in the 5-year old division scoring 79.20 points and winning the class. She was followed by Anna Sundstrom on the Swedish warmblood Luxus CML (by Florencio x Bolero) with 73.60. Charlotte Hamilton and the German bred Lord Hamilton (by Lord Loxley x Don Primero) completed the top three with a 72.200 score.
In the 6-year old division routinier Anna Svanberg steered Birgitta Österberg and Filip Wilhelmsson's chestnut stallion Bellman (by Hermes x Prestige VDL) to victory with 78.60. Svanberg was also the runner-up on the dark bay Tabasco (by Topaasch x Sack), owned and bred by Ingrid Lundberg-Persson. This horse scored 76.40. Natalie Oldfors and the Swedish bred Mickey M (by Metall x Bonaparte) slotted in third with 72.00 points.
Only Swedish bred or ASVHA registered horses are eligible for Swedish selection for Verden. Two riders in Flyinge unfortunately memorized the wrong test and were excluded from the competition.
