Jil Sandro Real was proclaimed dressage foal champion at the 2009 Belgian warmblood Foal Championship held on 29 August 2009. The BWP foals competed for the national titles in 3 different series.
Dressage takes up a miniature part in the breeding of Belgian warmblood horses, which is totally centred on show jumping horses. However, this year some 40 dressage bred foals were presented to the judges. Jil Sandro Real, by Sandro Hit ox Don Frederico, became national dressage foal champion. This colt is owned by Jeff and Ingrid Craenen – Van Winckel.
Out of 55 jumping bred colts the judges selected 14 foals for the final round : this series was won by the foal Jetalon van t‘ Krekenhof, by Toulon x Cento, bred by Roger De Backer who lives in Middelburg.
In the second series, comprising 65 fillies, the national title was granted to Jasmine, a daughter of Equistro out of a dam by Gottwald. She belongs to the wellknown breeder Danny Mortier from Zuienkerke.
The foal championship for the studbook of the Belgian Riding Pony gave the following results : Nola van de Pannehoeve, bred by Patrick Oostvogels, won the series of the small size; Nimf van het Koetshuis, bred by Julie De Bolle, was the best female foal in the series of the large size and Nilano van het Donkhof, bred by Gypsy Doms, won the series of the large size male foals.
