The Oldenburg licensed stallion Plaisir d'Amour had to be humanely put down after a colic attack on Saturday 28 February 2009.

After he was retired from competition in 2006, he stood at stud at the horse clinic of Hermann Josef Genn in Mühlen, Germany.

Born in 1988, Plaisir d'Amour was by Pik Bube I out of a Furioso II dam. He was bred and owned his whole life by Hans H. Ludwigs.

His first job was being a dressage horse. Under Rudolf Zeilinger he competed in the Bundeschampionate finals three times. As a 6-year old he finished eleventh in 1994. He booked his first success at S level under Nicole Uphoff, who rode him in the Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals. Later on he competed at international championships under Jasmine Sanche-Burger for the Swiss Dressage Team.

Although Sanche participated in the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome, Plaisir d'Amour had his most successful time under the saddle of Markus Gribbe. This team won, for example, the Grand Prix Special in Heroldsberg and Isernhagen, the international Grand Prix in Hickstead, the Nations cup class in Jozefin and they scored well at big events such as Aachen, Achleiten, Stadl Paura, and Donaueschingen.

His last rider was Ralf Hartmann who also rode him to a lot of good results in national and international Grand Prix classes.  All together he won nearly 50.000 € of prize money in dressage.

His most famous daughter is Puppenfee, who was winner of the Elite mare show in Rastede and third at the European mare show in Brussel 1998. She is also dam of the Oldenburg Main Premium award winner San Amour and the 3-year old Oldenburg Elite Mare ChampionAuguste Victoria. Also D'Amour, the VTV stallion of the year 2007, is out of a Plaisir d'Amour dam.

Plaisir d'Amour has 127 registered sport horses, eight with success at S-level dressage, two in S-jumping, five state premium mares and one licensed son.
