The new, shorter Grand Prix Special test, announced at the annual FEI General Assembly in Taiwan, has now been released. The test was introduced on 1 January 2011 for use at the 2012 Olympic Games.

The new Grand Prix Special is mandatory for CDIs with a CDIO big tour (Edition 2011) between 1 October 2011 and 31 December 2012.

The two-minute reduction was introduced to fulfill the International Olympic Committee’s requirement to keep the same time frame as in Hong Kong and to allow a total of 32 horses (7 teams and 11 individuals) to take part in the competition.

This format will not be used at other FEI Championships.
