The Oldenburg society has announced a staggering break with tradition. It will no longer be using the title "State Premium mare", but instead is replacing it with the "Oldenburg Haupt Premium Mare" title.

Based on the differing criteria which the regional governments handle for the allocation of the State Premium title in each province in Germany, the Oldenburg breed society as well as the Oldenburg Show Jumping breed society are now forced to replace the title," press officer Tobias Hemken announced in a press release.

The Oldenburg society will now be replacing the State Premium Mare title with the Oldenburg Haupt Premium mare title ("Oldenburger Hauptprämie").

Oldenburg bred mares, who are already SPS, will now be named with the new title as the conditions for achieving the title remain the same. The same counts for the Verband premium title.

Oldenburg will continue to hold the mare performance testing for 3- and 4-year olds, followed by the elite mare show in Rastede where they can earn the title.

The Oldenburg society has now also opened the possibility to achieve the title for riding horse mares from other studbooks. They can achieve the verband premium and Oldenburg haupt premium title by first presenting their mares in the Oldenburg Mare Performance Test in Vechta.
