Guadeloupe Beau and Fenix Win Semi Finals at the 2015 Pavo Cup Finals

The 4-year old Guadeloupe Beau and the 5-year old Fenix were the winners of the semi finals of the 2015 Pavo Cup Finals, held during the 2015 KWPN Horse Days in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 11 - 16 August 2015.  They are now the hot favourites for the Pavo Cup champion's title.

The Pavo Cup is a special show circuit restricted to KWPN bred horses but open to domestic and foreign riders. A series of nation wide qualifiers, including one in Great Britain, are held to determine the semi-finalists. The twenty best scoring horses of the semi finals move on to the finals on Thursday 13 August 2015.

Eighty-five 4-year olds qualified for the semi finals held on Tuesday 11 August 2015 and judged by Karin Retera and Arie Hamoen. Peter Hulkens' bay mare Guadeloupe Beau (by Bordeaux x Vivaldi) scored the highest marks under Kim van der Velden. The mare achieved a total of 90 points with an 8.5 for walk, 9s for trot, canter and potential, and 9.5 for harmony.  The second placed 4-year old was Glamour (by Charmeur x OO Seven), presented by Dutch junior rider Demy Kurstjens. The dup scored 88 points with a 9 for trot, canter and potential and 8.5 for walk and harmony. Carlos Caetano and the licensed stallion Glamourdale (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro) landed a third place with 85 points. The stallion got 9 for canter, 8.5 for trot, potential and harmony and 8 for walk.

The 5-year olds had their semi finals on Wednesday 12 August 2015 and Emmelie Scholtens topped the leader board on last year's reserve champion Fenix (by Vivaldi x Houston) with 91 points.  Judges Gert van den Hoorn and Monique Peutz awarded the bay 9.5 for walk and trot, 8.5 for canter and harmony and 9.5 for dressage potential.

Kirsten Brouwer and the stallion Ferdeaux (by Bordeaux x Ferro) were the runners-up with 89 points. He scored 8.5 for walk and 9 for trot, canter, harmony and potential. Brouwer also finished third on the stallion Five Star (by Amazing Star x Jazz) with 87 points. the chestnut stallion scored 8.5 for trot and canter, 9 for walk and harmony and 8.5 for dressage potential.
