Southern Cross Stud may not be a name that you have heard of yet, but that will change in the future. This family run business with over 70 horses from foals through to those competing at advanced levels both in the UK and in Germany, are making their mark on the international scene.

Souther Cross Stud's goal is to produce and sell top class dressage horses and through their partnerships with international Grand Prix riders Wolfram and Brigitte Wittig in Germany and Anna Ross Davies in the UK they have been enjoying enviable success with their horses such as the young stallion Baron de Ley who recently dominated the six year old section of the Hille qualifier for the 2011 Bundeschampionate.

The team at Southern Cross Stud believes strongly in the importance of proven dam lines and the pedigrees of many of their mares contain dams of licensed stallions, Olympic champions Some of their own mares are out proving themselves on the competition circuit before commencing their breeding career or combining the two via embryo transfer. On the stallion side Southern Cross Stud are particularly excited about the two foals by Carl Hester's Uthopia that are expected in 2012.

Jill Walker one of the owners of Southern Cross Stud explained that, "we are absolutely delighted to see how well Carl Hester and Uthopia are doing during their first season at Grand Prix, to be selected to represent Great Britain at the Europeans must be hugely exciting and we wish them every success. Uthopia is a stallion that we have admired and we felt that he would be an excellent match for two of our mares, so we can’t wait to see what he produces!"

When dealing with clients Jill believes it is important to carefully match the right horse to the rider. “We put a lot of time and energy into producing high quality horses and we want them to go to homes where they can be enjoyed for many years to come," she explained. "It gives me huge pleasure to see Southern Cross horses competing successfully with their new owners and it is very exciting to see these new partnerships emerging. We don’t compromise on quality, it has taken us time to build up our stock and any potential additions have to be of a very high standard."

Southern Cross Stud has a range of horses available for sale from up and coming young stars such as Linguistic to advanced schoolmasters such as Ice Age and are always happy to happy to discuss requirements with clients.
