The British Equestrian Federation, on behalf of British Dressage, has appointed David Trott as World Class Performance Manager for Dressage in an expansion of his existing role.

David has been a member of the British Dressage Board of Directors and the Chairman of Selectors since 2001. A List 1 and an FEI International judge, David is also an active competitor, competing up to Intermediaire I level. He was Chef d’Equipe for the British medal winning 2003 European Championship team and the 2004 Athens Olympic team.

In this new role, which will allow him to expand his involvement with the senior international team riders, David will be responsible for overseeing the identification, training and selection of talented horses and riders for the Olympic team.

"I’m thrilled to be taking up this position. It will enable me to give the role the time it deserves," said David. “I really feel we are in the strongest position we have been for a long time, with exciting combinations just beginning to show their potential. By the next Olympics we could be challenging even the Germans!”

Speaking about the appointment, Performance Director Will Connell, said:” I'm very glad to have David on board, in effect continuing the role that he played up to Athens 2004. His vast experience of the world of dressage, and the relationship he now has with the riders and officials, will allow him to build on the success of the Athens Olympiad over the coming years."

The position of Performance Manager is supported by Lottery funds through UK Sport as part of their commitment to developing elite athletes and Great Britain's sporting success. David will take up this new role immediately and will be based at his home in Buckinghamshire.
