A Walk on the Premises

„Life is good“ comes immediately to my mind on that Tuesday morning at the end of August 2016. Standing in the courtyard of a typical Münsterland barn, the sun slowly developing its strength, the sky spotless and blue, I could not think of anything better at that moment than being exactly here. My camera and I waiting for some hours of action under pretty ideal conditions, also from an equestrian point of view, for a mini dressage immersion tour around Warendorf.

He wants to restore Russian equestrian sport to its former glory and rekindle riding as a popular, accessible sport for children and adults of all social classes.  Aristov has spared no costs to realize his vision and is developing Maxima Park into one the most attractive equestrian centre in Russia and Europe.

There are more pleasant months than November to visit Finland, the Scandinavian country with its checkered history high up in the North of Europe. However climate change doesn't stop there and binary plus temperatures greeted us on arrival, even though the early pitch-black darkness made the drive from Helsinki airport an unusual adventure for somebody from middle Europe. Eurodressage's way to one of Finland's young up and coming international dressage riders led through seemingly endless lonesome woods, with villages and some civilzation only now and then to be seen.

"Only the best is good enough" and that motto is strikingly clear when one walks over the premises of Mount St. John, a breeding paradise of dressage foals destined for high performance sport based in the North of England. Incredible mare lines, a professional team of horse caring personnel and a grand vision led by owner Emma Jane Blundell make Mount St John the epitome of modern dressage horse breeding.

Coby and Marlies van Baalen's "Dressage Stable Van Baalen" is nested in the flat, rural countryside in Brakel, The Netherlands, located in between the rivers Maas and Waal. Based on fertile farmer land with fields stretching as far as eyes can reach, this quiet dressage yard has been a centre for cultivating young dressage talent from grassroots level up to Grand Prix. The training centre was proclaimed "Dutch Equestrian Entrepreneur of the Year" at the 2014 Horse Event in Deurne, The Netherlands, rewarding Team Van Baalen for its professional and successful management of their thriving dressage business.

New Zealand YDH Training Trip

Eight New Zealand and Australian judges have been on an in-depth Young Dressage Horse Training Trip in Europe in pursuit of knowledge. These "Down Under dressage dames" attended the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, France, and travelled around Germany visiting breeders, young horse trainers, Grand Prix riders as well as the 2014 Bundeschampionate to immerse themselves in the horse culture.
