2017 European Pony Championships

Germany's course for the team gold medal has been interrupted by a massive thunder storm which struck the show grounds of the 2017 European Pony Championships in Kaposvar, Hungary, on Wednesday 26 July 2017. With only five more riders to go in the team championship test, the competition was postponed until Thursday afternoon 27 July.

2017 CDIO Aachen

Despite the pouring rain, Spanish Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and her 2015 European kur bronze medal winning Delgado won the Grand Prix Freestyle  in the 4* tour at the 2017 CDIO Aachen on Saturday night 22 July 2016. It was no surprise when Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and the Westphalian-bred De Niro son, Delgado, claimed the bronze medal in the Freestyle at the European Championships here in Aachen in 2015, finally getting rewarded for her beautiful, correct classical riding and training of Delgado. Two years later the pair is still competing at the top of the echelon.

It is always said that dressage is complicated. When Isabell Werth won the Grand Prix Kur to Music at the 2017 CDIO Aachen for the eleventh time in her career on Sunday noon 23 July 2017, she made the fascination of dressage tangible with her Oldenburg-bred mare, Weihegold. Sönke Rothenberger shifted into another gear to place second, while Laura Graves dropped from a Special victory to a third place in the freestyle.

(CHIO Aachen press release - Eurodressage report coming later) -- All good things come in threes – but including the team classification, the Lambertz Nations’ Cup, it was actually number four for the Germans at the CHIO Aachen 2017. And just in time for her 30th birthday, Laura Graves was delighted to have finally achieved her aim, after many attempts.

Isabell Werth once more proved that she is the measure of all things this 2017 show season after winning the 5* Grand Prix at the 2017 CDIO Aachen on Thursday 20 July 2017. Aboard her number one Weihegold, the German Olympian produced a fantastic ride that received a generous score of 83.171% to rank first ahead of Laura Graves and Sönke Rothenberger.
