For some reason I have been unable to get into the Christmas spirit this year. For the first time in my life I did not set up Christmas tree or decorate the house with cute lights that always used to brighten my spirits. I've been so caught up with work for Eurodressage and the University of Brussels that I could not get my mind round the holidays.

Olympic Games usually pacify me to such a level of laziness that I'm glued to the sofa for two weeks just watching Olympic coverage on Belgian, Dutch, British tv-channels, flipping from one network to another. All of a sudden, specific disciplines that normally don't interest me a become a passion.

The French riders do not plan to boycott the Olympic Games in Hong Kong, the French news paper Libération reported. Now thatriots are going on in Tibet's capital Lhasa with the Tibetan population fighting against the disgraceful occupation and domination of Tibet by China, world wide speculation has been provoked to boycott the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to make an international statement that human rights are violated in Tibet.

My editorial column has been an inconsistently appearing feature on Eurodressage since its inauguration in 2000. My writings have dealt with a plethora of subjects going from critiques on the dressage world, to political statements, to activist propaganda, but they also revealed simple journal notes, disclosures of my private life with horses.
