The German junior team, consisting of Valentina Pistner, Lucie-Anouk Baumgurtel and Anna Middelberg, was a league of their own in the Nations Cup at the 2019 CDIO-PJYR Hagen "Future Champions" held last week at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany.

Captained by professional trainer Oliver Oelrich, the German juniors scored a total of 148.283 points in the team championship test which counted for the Nations' Cup. The two highest scores of a team of three counted for the nations' ranking.

2018 European Championship silver medal winner Valentina Pistner spearheared the German team aboard her 11-year old Oldenburg bred Flamboyant (by Fidertanz x De Niro), winning the team test with 74.899%. She had team mate Lucie-Anouk Baumgurtel in her wake. The former double European pony champion has been moonlighting this year, riding both ponies and horses, but the ultimate choice became after Hagen as she was selected on the German team for the European Junior Riders Championships in July. Baumgurtel's partner is the 10-year old Hanoverian mare Sweetheart (by Scolari x Hohenstein). They finished second in the team test with 73.384%. Anna Middelberg and the 8-year old Hanoverian Blickfang (by Belissimo M x Brentano II) were the scratch score with 72.071% (4th!)

Marten Luiten
The Dutch team landed second place on 142.980 points, which was a brave effort considering that team captain Monique Peutz brought a team of rookies to Hagen. All newcomers to the junior team, Shanna Baars (Farzana G), Sanne van der Pols (Cuvanck PP) and Marten Luiten (Fynona) produced solid scores with Luiten being the anchor on his Ampere x Gribaldi mare. They placed third individually in the team test with 73.081%.

Captain Janne Jensen and her Danish girls finished with bronze on 142.727%. The most experienced rider of the pack, Sara Aagaard Hyrm on Skovborgs Romadinov (by Romanov), finished sixth with 70.909%, but it was team new comer Frederikke Gram Jacobsen taking the spotlight with her fifth place (71.818%) on the 9-year old Danish mare Ryvangs Zafina (by Zack x Come Back II).
