The horse stock and a lorry from the estate of the late horse breeder Johannes Rüter was auctioned at equestrian centre Massener Heide in Unna-Massen, Germany, on Saturday 17 February 2018.

German horse dealer, breeder and stallion rearer Johannes Rüter (62) passed away on 27 December 2017 after recurring health issues forced him into the hospital in December. Rüter prepared stallions for licensing, such as Villeneuve, Flavis, Lauristan, Red Diamond, Ehrgeiz, and Landlob and was a breeder of licensed stallions Peking, Dolby Surround, and Beverly Hills amongst others.

With no successors to take over the horse business, Rüter's entire horse stock was auctioned. A huge crowd, mainly of local horse people, turned up for the event.

The collection included broodmares, yearlings, and young sport horses. One of the highlights was the 20-year old brood mare Florenz (by Florestan x Werther x Graphit) who found a new owner in Rhineland for 13,000 euro. She is the dam to licensed stallion Dolby Suround (by De Niro) and in foal to Villeneuve. The 3-year old full sister of Dolby Suround sold for 17,000 euro, a yearling colt by Borsalino out of Florenz, switched owners for 10,000 euro.

The top seller was a 6-year old jumper mare Covent Garden (by Comme Il Faut). The 9-year old mare Valerie (by Valentino x Dinard L) sold for 19,000 euro.  Jens Winkler acquired the 7-year old gelding Dark Batuo (by Dancier x Rotspon)

Auctioneer Volker Rauf sold all 49 horses in the collection.
