German Dressage Squads for 2018 Announced

The dressage selection committee of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee has announced the squads for 2018. Following a new set of rules created by the German Olympic Sport Federation, the names of the A- and B team have been dropped.

Germany will no longer refer to its squads as A and B-teams, but instead has opted for Olympic, Perspective and Upcoming 1 (Under 25) squads.

The Olympic team includes combinations which were successful at the Europeans in 2017 and which have current results that indicate their team potential for the 2020 Olympics. 

The Olympic (A-)squad includes:

  • Jessica von Bredow-Werndl- Unee BB and Zaire-E
  • Helen Langehanenberg -Damsey FRH
  • Sönke Rothenberger -  Cosmo
  • Dorothee Schneider - Sammy Davis jr. and Showtime FRH
  • Isabell Werth -  Weihegold OLD, Emilio and Don Johnson FRH

The Perspective (B-)squad show potential to move into the Olympic squad. This squad includes:

  • Anabel Balkenhol - Heuberger TSF
  • Bernadette Brune- Spirit of the Age OLD
  • Fabienne Lütkemeier - D’Agostino FRH and Fabregaz
  • Hubertus Schmidt - Imperio

The Upcoming Under 25 squad includes:

  • Florine Kienbaum - Doktor Schiwago
  • Lisa-Maria Klössinger- FBW Daktari
  • Bianca Nowag - Fair Play RB
  • Juliette Piotrowski - Sir Diamond
  • Ninja Rathjens - Emilio

The youth squads for 2018 will be announced after the 2017 CDN Munster in January.
