2017 Ecco Cup Finals

Pony riders Alexander Yde Helgstrand and Sofie Hansen, junior rider Karoline Rohmann, young rider Josefine Hoffmann and Under 25 rider Nanna Skodborg Merrald became the winners of the 2017 Ecco Cup Finals heldfor the first time at the Uggerhalne riding club in Uggerhalne, Denmark, on 30 November - 3 December 2017. Andreas Helgstrand took over the organisation of the Ecco Cup Finals and moved the venue from Middelfart to his club in Uggerhalne in the north of Jutland.

In the FEI pony division team rider Sofie Hansen and the 10-year old stallion Prince of Glory (by Triple Tree's Prince Perfect x The Braes My Mobility) topped the overall ranking board after a tough competition with a group of five riders all scoring above 70%. Hansen won the title with 70.284% and 74.208%. Rebecca Holm Sylvest and the 19-year old golden oldie Centrum (by Robin) were second with 71.260% and 73.208%. Cecilie Hedegaard and Strandgaards Challenger (by Champion de Luxe x Pour L'Amour) landed third place with 70.488 and 72.042%.

Alexander Yde Helgstrrand on Jumanji In the FEI pony division for smaller ponies, Alexander Yde Helgstrand finished at the top of the board with the 16-year old Jumanji (by Jacobspeel's Rocky x Luzern). he scored 71.138% and 75.042% and left the competition far behind him. Frederikke Gram Jacobsen and RS Proud Mary (by Champion de Luxe x Bolero) were second with 68.130% and 71.583%. The bronze was for Sophia Boje Obel Jorgensen on Cascadura (by Constantin x Sandro Ace) with 69.431% and 69.375%.

Going straight from the 2017 CDI Aachen Indoor to the Ecco Cup Finals, junior rider Karoline Rohmann steered the 8-year old Jakas Don Louvre (by Don Romantic x Lauries Crusador xx) to victory in her age class. With a solid 72.983% and 75.417% they were untouchable. Natalie Hering and the 8-year old Trakehner Litvinenko Sjaelstofte (by Imperio x Pidroneur) landed second place with 70.044% and 74.083%, whereas Ann Sofie Nilausen and Elverhojs Sakharov (by Romanov x Amiral) proved consistency and were third with 69.693% and 71.417%.

Josefine Hoffmann on Honnerups Driver At Young Riders level Danish team member Josefine Hoffmann was a league on her own aboard Anna Kasprzak's 13-year old Danish bred Honnerups Driver (by Romanov x Don Schufro). Schewas the only one to twice score above 70% with 71.009% and 75.792%. Sandra Aagard Hyrm and the 10-year old Dutch warmblood Cavanillas W (by Florett As x Donnerhall) were second overall with 69.781% and 69.583%. Hyrm took over the ride on Cavanillas W this year from Vicktoria Tallberg, whereas Maria Anita Andersen had started the gelding as a 6 and 7-year old. Laura Hviid and the 16-year old Denzel (by De Niro x Weltmeyer) were third with 67.544% and 70.750%.

In the Under 25 division Nanna Skodborg Merrald made her come back to the national big time aboard the 9-year old mare Sadan Que (by Quaterback x Royal Diamond). The brand new duo won the short Grand Prix with 74.380% and the Kur with 78.708%. Victoria Vallentin, who took over the ride on the 11-year old stallion Ludwig der Sonnenkonig (by London Swing x Liberator) from German based Sam Duckworth, placed second with 70.078% and 76.333%, while Maja Petersen and the 13-year old Hojgards Dexter (by Dolany x Rosso) were third with 67.597% and 71.792%.
