Trakehner Stallion Charly Chaplin Passed Away

The Trakehner elite stallion Charly Chaplin has passed away at the grand old age of 32. The stallion died at his long-time home with the Gerke family in Uslar, Germany.

Bred by Theodor Storm in Hamminkl, Germany, Charly Chaplin was born 1 March 1985. He was by Mackensen out of Chiusa (by Neuquen II x Insterfeuer).

He was licensed at the 1987 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany. He did his 100-day stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 1988 and scored only 99.76 points to finish 29th out of 56 participating stallions. He earned 110.82 index points for dressage (18th) and 79.93 points for show jumping (44th).

As a youngster the stallion was first competed by Rolf Gerke in 1988. As of 1990 Christoph von Daehne took over and brought him to Grand Prix level. Charly Chaplin booked more than 50 victories in S-level and Grand Prix classes. He did his last show in May 2002 in Stadthagen, where he finished fourth in the Intermediaire II.

As a breeding stallion he sired four licensed sons (Konradi, Pyatt Charly, Cidre, and Polarzauber) and ten state premium mares.
