Dorothee Schneider's 16-year old Trakehner stallion Polarzauber TSF passed away on Monday 3 December 2012 from an aortic rupture during a schooling session.

Polarzauber looked fit and healthy in his daily routine. On Monday morning he had his breakfast, his daily turnout in the paddock and was then saddled for a schooling session.

"He was the chief in the ring, which he showed to everyone. Fully motivated and full of life spirit, he collapsed from one second to the next," Dorothee Schneider explained. "I rarely have ridden a horse that was so willing to performance and at the same time so strong in character like Polarbear. He knew the movements like no other, and was sstill winning international PSG and Inter I tests at age 16 in his own playful way."

Bred and owned by ZG Gerke, Polarzauber was by Charly Chaplin x Tenor. He was trained and competed to Intermediaire II level by Nicole Kochskämper and placed fifth at the 2005 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals. In 2008 Dorothee Schneider took over the rider and mainly focused on competing him at international small tour shows.
