The French Equestrian Federation announced today that Karen Tebar and Ricardo have withdrawn from competing on the French team at this week's FEI Nations Cup in home country France.

The 14-year old Hanoverian bred Ricardo (by Rosentau x Ragazzo) has sustained a minor injury and will not show at the 2017 CDIO Compiègne on 18 - 21 May 2017.

"Ricardo came out of his box yesterday with a swollen leg," Karen Tebar told Eurodressage. "The vet checked and there is a small wound (minor 1 cm) that has been inflamed. Today we had to give him antibiotics so he can't compete next weekend. I'm very sad about that. He was in good shape and I was so happy to be on the team for Compiegne!"

Pauline Vanlandeghem and the 17-year old Hanoverian gelding Liaison (by Londonderry x Gralswachter) will replace Tebar and Ricardo. They join Stéphanie Brieussel on Amorak, Ludovic Henry on After You and Pierre Volla on Badinda Altena on the French team.

Tebar's 2016 Olympic mount, the 12-year old Hanoverian gelding Don Luis (by Dimaggio x Rubinstein) has not been shown in 9 months since the Olympics in Rio last August. Tebar had scheduled the horse's come back for the 2017 CDI Hagen at the end of April, but the horse also sustained minor injury on one of his daily hacks.

"He got injured when he jumped in the air while doing his walking in the afternoon," said Tebar. "After riding in the morning, my horses go always out a second time in the afternoon. He is already back in light training and will come back in some weeks."

Tebar hopes to be back on the French team for the CDIO Rotterdam in June.
