The 16-year old Oldenburg licensed stallion Serno Gold has moved from Great Britain to Austria, where he has found a new home at Dr. Ivan Urbas' Gutshof Schmida. The horse already relocated to Austria in July 2016.

Serano Gold is bred by Willi Gering and was originally owned by Heinz Ahlers. He is by Sandro Hit out of Eskoria (by Grundstein II x Futuro x Makuba xx).

The bay was first approved by the Oldenburg society in January 2005 and did the 30-day stallion performance test three months later in Vechta. He scored 8.64 in total with 8.85 for dressage and 8.08 for show jumping.

Serano Gold has been competed as a youngster by a large string of riders. He was first shown by Andrea Muller-Kersten as a 3-year old but Heiko Klausing soon took over. The pair finished sixth at the 2004 Bundeschampionate for 3-year olds. In 2005 Leonie Bramall competed the horse. In 2006 Ahlers hoped to strike gold by moving the stallion to The Netherlands with Edward Gal, but the Dutchman only showed the horse once in June. A month later Kathrin Meyer zu Strohen competed him. In 2008 the stallion was off for a year. In 2009 Birte Ahlers showed him once and two months later Laura Brünjes became his rider until 2011.

For two years it was totally quiet around Serano Gold, but in January 2013 the news came out that Serano Gold sold to Jennifer Gilchrist's Romanno Stud in Scotland, UK.

Serano Gold has only sired two licensed sons (Cashmir, Serano) and 7 state premium mares so far. His most successful offspring in sport are the 10-year old Smilla P (Emma Kanerva), Anders Dahl's 2012 World YH Championship ride Cashmir and the Austrian Young Horse Champion Solitaire Gold, which is owned by Gutshof Schmida.

Although 16 years old, Serano Gold's new Austrian owner has decided for him to pick up his show career. The Spanish Riding School rider Marcus Nowotny will train the horse to Grand Prix level but another rider will be competing him.
