2016 WBFSH General Assembly To Take Place in Geneva

The 2016 General Assembly of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) will take place at the Best Western Gotel Chavannes-de-Bogis in Geneva, Switzerland, on 13 December 2016.

This year's WBFSH General Assembly will take place in connection with the CHI Geneva and in close cooperation with the host, the Swiss WBFSH member Zuchtverband CH-Sportpferde (ZVCH).

While the general assembly takes place on 13 December, meetings begin on Saturday 10 December 2016. There will also be a guided tour of the national equestrian centre and stud farm IENA in Avenches.

WBFSH president Jan Pedersen as well as board member Rik van Miert are both retiring and eligible for a 3-year period.

Programme itels include a presentation by Michel Dahn on the Swiss CH-Sportpferde "Swiss Warmblood breeding: old or new, local or global?" followed by a seminar on genomic selection, moderated by Stefan Rieder, director at Agroscope and genetics researcher. Markus Neudischko will present a paper on genomic selection in the horse industry with Examples of applied research in the Swiss Franches-- Montagnes breed. Paul Hubert will bring a presentation of the WBFSH harmonization of x-rays of stallions.
