Deluxe and FBW Sir Solitar Win 6-year old Preliminary Test at 2016 Bundeschampionate

Deluxe and FBW Sir Solitär became the winners of the preliminary test for 6-year old dressage horses at the 2016 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, Germany, on Wednesday 31 August 2016. The 2016 Bundeschampionate - the German Young Horse Championships - are the final summer championships of the 2016 outdoor show season.

The Bundeschampionate are the biggest highlight of German horse breeding and young horse sport of the year and draw massive crowds to the official headquarters of the German equestrian federation. Classes for dressage, show jumping, eventing and young driving horses take place. For dressage there are classes for 3 and 4-year old riding horses and ponies as well as for 5 and 6 year old dressage horses and ponies.

The 6-year old dresage horse class is one of the highlight divisions of the show as it often features horses that will move on to a successful FEI level career. This year judges Horst Eulich, Klaus Ridder and Katja Westendarp had to asses 51 six-year olds horses split into two groups.

Laura Blackert-Stigler and Walterscheidt's Rhinelander mare Deluxe (by Don Primus x Wolkentanz II) topped the board in group 1 with an overall score of 8.5. The elegant mare, bred by Janet Stratmann, scored 9 for trot, 7.5 for walk, 8.5 for canter and submission and 9.0 for general impression. Anja Engelbart and Schockemohle's Oldenburg stallion Fusion OLD (by Furst Romancier x Sion) were second with 8.3. The black stallion, bred by Harm Oncken, scored 8.5 for walk, trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.

In the second group Katrin Burger steered Lothar Merkt's Baden Wurttemberger bred gelding FBW Sir Solitär (by Sir Sandro x Disco Tanzer) to an 8.4 victory. The dark bay gelding, bred by Fritz Brenner, scored 8.5 for trot and canter, 8 for walk and 8.5 for submission and general impression. Lena Stegemann and her own Oldenburg gelding Don Toyamo (by Don Romantic x Sandro Hit) landed second place with 8.3. The dark bay gelding, bred by Susanne Gattermann, received 8 for trot, 8.5 for walk and canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
