Just like years before, the spring foal branding at Dressage Performance Centre Lodbergen (DLZ) heralds the Oldenburg foal summer. More than 50 foals are entered for the Lodbergen Foal Show on Monday 25 April 2016 at 14h00 for criticial assessment by the Oldenburg foal inspection committee.
At this spring foal inspection, achieving a foal premium label is not all that counts, but also getting accepted for the Elite Auctions in Vechta, Germany, in June and August.
Of all foals entered for inspection in Lodbergen, DLZ main sire For Romance is best represented with nine offspring. Other sires represented at the foal show include Buenos Dias, Dante Weltino OLD, First Ampere, Rock For Me and Uphill.
"The foal branding show is a very important event on the calendar for every breeder," said Lodbergen managing director Urs Schweizer. "It is a great opportunity for them to market their foals." Schweizer will also be keeping a keen eye on the offspring presented there.
Last year DLZ got no less than six colts licensed out of their own breeding programme, including the ZfDp Licensing Champion Don Sevillano (by Don Schufro x Sevillano xx), the third ranked stallion at the Westfalian licensing, Federico Fellini, and the Oldenburg premium stallion For Final, the latter two sons out of the first crop of foals by double licensing champion For Romance (by Furst Romancier x Sir Donnerhall).
The spring foal branding is just one of three foal shows held at the wonderful facilities of the DLZ, based at Am Jägereck in Löningen, Germany. On Saturday 18 June the sixth edition of the Lodbergen Foal Championship will take place and on Thursday 23 June the Oldenburg main branding day will be held there.
