Norwegian Grand Prix team rider Cathrine Rasmussen has taken over the ride on Agnete Kirk Thinggaard's Borencio and she is preparing the Dutch warmblood for Grand Prix level.

Agnete Kirk Thinggard acquired the now 9-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Borencio (by Florencio x Lord Sinclair x Clavecimbel) in 2013 after the horse won silver at the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden under Emmelie Scholtens. Borencio also won the 2010 and 2011 Pavo Cup Finals and competed at the 2011 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, where he finished 8th in the
Finals.

Ten months ago, Danish based Rasmussen took over the ownership of the bay gelding and has been schooling him for Grand Prix. Cathrine has not yet decided on a competition plan for her new rising star.

"When he is ready," Rasmussen told Eurodressage about the horse's Grand Prix debut. "He did not know any piaffe or passage when I bought him, so it is still a bit new to him. He needs more strength still. Maybe (I'll do) a few small tour classes when he is getting close (to GP)."

Rasmussen's number one Grand Prix horse, the 15-year old Westfalian gelding Fernandez (by Florestan x Weinberg), has been recovering from an injury for the past year. The chestnut gelding, which was Charlotte Dujardin's first Grand Prix horse, injured himself right before the 2014 World Equestrian Games and has had a full year off.

"Fernandez is back in light training after a whole year off. Hopefully he will be ready to compete in a couple of months," Rasmussen explained.
