Belgian WEG team rider Claudia Fassaert had to postpone the show come back of Donnerfee for a second time due to a minor injury. Afer the 2014 World Equestrian Games the dark bay mare struggled with an infection in the hoof.

Claudia Fassaert and Dirk Hooge's 15-year old Oldenburg mare Donnerfee (by De Niro x Rosenkavalier) were scheduled to make their return to the ring at the 2015 CDI Villach this weekend, but had to withdraw.

"Last week I went to do a final test with chef d'equipe Sjef Janssen in Erp, The Netherlands and we both agreed that nothing was standing in the way of a come back," Fassaert told Belgian newspaper De Morgen.

Unfortunately the mare susteined a cut in her hoof in the night of Sunday 24 May 2015.

"Apparelty Donnerfee was lying on the latch of her stable blanket and cut herself, which started to infect. On Tuesday the small would had almost entirely healed but her leg was still swollen so that I couldn't train nor compete," Fassaert explained. "It's a real bummer because I was craving for competition."

On Thursday evening 28 May the leg the wound will be scanned. "I hope for a good diagnosis so that we can go back to showing in three weeks," Claudia added.
