The Austrian Grand Prix team combination Renate Voglsang and Fabriano has come to an end. The 16-year old Westfalian licensed stallion has returned to his breeder Michael Schönleitner as the contract between breeder and rider expired..

Voglsang and Fabriano (by Florestan I x Angelo xx x Fitger) were a fixture on the Austrian dressage team from 2011 till 2014. The pair represented Austria at the 2011 and 2013 European Dressage Championships, competed at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and placed 8th with the Austrian team at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, France. The pair rode their final show in Salzburg in December 2014.

Renate looks back on a beautiful career with Fabriano, who has helped her to shape her name as an international dressage rider.

"I will always remember the wonderful time I had with this very special horse," Renate told Eurodressage. "Fabriano had a bad reputation after his stallion perfomance test because of his difficult character. At that time I didn't expect him to become such a reliable partner in each and every situation. To get him on my side and to make him an Olympic horse makes me proud forever."

Voglsang cites the London Olympics as a highlight in their partnership.  "Furthermore we had very successful competitions in our last year," she added. "In Stuttgart as well as in Nuremberg, where we achieved our highest score for freestyle with 78.17%."

Renate will continue her show career on her other Grand Prix star, the 13-year old Westfalian Fratello (by Florestan x Rosenkavalier x Angelo xx), with whom she has competed at international Grand Prix level in 2012. Fratello is out of the same dam line as Fabriano and is the spitting image of Fabriano. An injury sidelined him for more than a year though.  Renate will also be campaigning the 8-year old Hanoverian bred Smirnoff (by Sir Donnerhall x Warkant).

"I am absolutly happy with my young and promising talents and I am looking forward to present them as successfully as Fabriano; or even better," said Voglsang.
