Earning herself a very noble, triple runner-up position in the pony division at the 2014 CDI Addington on 21 - 23 March 2014, British Alexandra Hellings and her little Lord "Der Kleine Lord" went beyond their own expectations and are now serious contenders for a team spot for the 2014 European Pony Championships in Ireland.

Hellings is very proud of their growing success. “Addington was a great show for me this year,” said the 14-year old. “We came second in every class and gaining scores of 72.521%, 74.350% and 74.875% exceeded my expectations. I was extremely proud of how far Lordy and I have come.”

Der Kleine Lord, or "Lordy" for short, is set to celebrate his 7th birthday this year. The dark bay gelding is a German Riding pony by Der Feine Lord.

“He is an extremely genuine and talented pony, with a very kind heart who always puts his all into everything," said Hellings. "I have had Lordy for just over a year now and I was very lucky to have been given the ride on him by Paul and Clare Williams (parents to British junior Erin Williams) whom I will be forever grateful to for the opportunity.”

When asked what Der Kleine Lord would say if he were to speak, Alexandra replied: “I will try my best to do everything that you ask, as long as I can chat to the ladies and eat lots of food."

Based at Dunston Park Equestrian Centre with trainer Sonia Baines (Webster) and her husband Philip, Alexandra has been training with Sonia since she was 7. “She has always been my inspiration," she added.

Hellings has also been given the chance to train the 17 hh bay gelding Uvi until last year. She inherited the horse from Sonia and he taught her so much so she could apply her knowledge to her work with Lordy.

A student at Lady Manners school in Bakewell, Alexandra is in her first year of the GCSEs and is currently studying Sports studies, Business studies and German, as well as all of her core subjects.

“My plans for the rest of the year are to attend as many international shows as possible and my aim is to hopefully get picked for the Pony European Championships," she said. "My ultimate goal is to represent my country at every level.”
