Maartje and Joop Hanse Honoured at 2013 Most Successful WBFSH Dressage Horse Breeders

Maartje and Joop Hanse, the breeders of 2013 European dressage champion Valegro, will be honoured in a special ceremony in Doha, Qatar, for being the breeders of the 2013 most successful horse on the WBFSH Dressage Ranking.

At an annual prize-giving ceremony the patron of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses, H.R.H. Princess Benedikte, will join the president of the organisation, Mr Jan Pedersen, in honouring the breeders of the FEI ranking champions in dressage, show jumping and eventing
 
This year the prize-giving ceremony will be held Wednesday 20 November 2013 in Doha, Quatar.
 
Earlier this year WBFSH signed a two-year sponsor agreement with the Swiss watchmakers Jaeger-LeCoultre for the great benefit of WBFSH members. This year the breeders of the three winning horses will receive a very special prize – a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch, exclusively engraved with the WBFSH logo.

"In order to achieve results in the equestrian sport the riders need good horses, and behind every good horse is a skilled breeder. Having bred the most successful horse in the world is a unique achievement which deserves a celebration," WBFSH president Jan Pedersen stated.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has invited the breeders to Doha in order to attend the prize-giving ceremony at a dinner Wednesday night. The breeders invited to this event and who will be endowed with a valuable Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch are:

Maartje & Joop Hanse, the Netherlands
for breeding the most successful dressage horse in 2013, the11-year-old KPWN registered gelding VALEGRO by Negro/Gerschwin ridden by Charlotte Dujardin, Great Britain.

Mme Agnes Grosz, France
for breeding the most successful show jumping horse in 2013, the13-year-old Selle Français registered mare Castle Forbes MYRTILLE PAULOIS by Dollar du Mourier/Grand Veneur ridden by Roger-Yves Bost, France.

Mr Ramón Beca, Spain
for breeding the most successful eventing horse in 2013, the 13-year-old CDE registered gelding NEREO by Fines/Golfi ridden by Andrew Nicholson, New Zealand.

The WBFSH is the only international federation of studbooks for sport horses in the world. With 69 member studbooks the WBFSH is the major connection between the breeding organisations of sport horses and the international equestrian sport (FEI). H.R.H. Princess Benedikte is patron of the WBFSH.
