Norwegian Team Pony Nadyr du Bois Passed Away

Elise and Mathilde Klaesson's 11-year old Norwegian dressage team pony Nadyr du Bois sadly passed away today following a freak accident in the stall.

The Klaessens discovered the chestnut gelding with a fracture hind leg in his box and immediately transported him to the local equine clinic. Unfortunately his injuries were too severe for recovery and the difficult choice was made to have him euthanized.

Nadyr du Bois, who was nick-named Nasse, was owned by the Klaesson-Blikstad family for the past seven years and considered a member of the family.

He was a Dutch bred NRPS pony by Nobility out of Camyrah du Bois (by Condor ox). Nadyr sold to Stuteri Nørlund in Denmark as a yearling colt and the Klaesson family acquired him as a 4-year old.

Coached by mom Merethe Blikstad, Elise Klaesson won the 2007 Norwegian Young Pony Championships with the 5-year old Nadyr. The combination moved to FEI level later on and competed at several international championships

In his career Nadyr du Bois showed at five Norwegian Championships, three Nordic Baltic Championships, and one European Championship.

"The whole family fell in love with Nadyr. We loved the fact that he was so willing to work with us, and learn new things. The challenge with Nadyr has always been the fact that he was a spooky pony. This got a lot better when he got older, and more experienced, but he was always wearing his big eyes," mom Merethe told Eurodressage. "During the years, Nadyr became a real familymember. He trusted us, and went everywhere with us, without hesitating. He was a very special pony. The stable will feel very empty without him."
