The 19-year old Swedish Under 25 rider Marina Mattsson has been nominated for the 2013 Comet of the Year Award, a trophy handed to the biggest rising talent in Sweden at the annual Swedish Riders' Gala.

Each year three rising equestrian stars in Sweden, one for each Olympic discipline, get nominated and the readers of equestrian magazine Tidningen Ridsport decide on the winner.

For dressage Marina Mattsson was selected. She was member of the Swedish team at the 2013 European Young Riders Championships in Compiegne, France, aboard the grey gelding Cassio. With Mainau she made her Grand Prix debut in the Under 25 Lovsta Future Challenge, in which she already finished second in 2012. Mattsson is a textbook example of a rider who successfully and systematically grew from ponies to Grand Prix with professional coaching.

The other two Comet candidates are Elin Jansson for show jumping and Frida Andersen for eventing. The 2013 Swedish Riders Gala takes place on 27 November 2013.
