The New Zealand Equestrian Federation is calling out for candidates who want to join the senior newcomer and Young Riders Training Group for 2011.

The aim of the Young Riders Training Group is to identify and encourage young riders to develop their skills and knowledge and to learn to train their horses or ponies at an appropriate level to the individual combination. The young riders will also be introduced to basic sport sciences.

The purpose of the senior newcomer training group is to identify and encourage more riders to compete at Prix St Georges level and consistently gain 60% or more. The seniors will also be introduce to Sports Sciences.

Up to 10 young riders riders will be selected from each island. This number may be modified at the discretion of the selectors in consultation with the Young Rider Convenor. Successful applicants will notified by Friday 26 August.  The Dressage NZ selectors’ decision will be final.

A maximum of 10 senior newcomers will be accepted into the group. Dressage NZ is not obligated to select 10 riders. The successful applicants will be offered a ticket to the FEI Regional Dressage Forum at Manfeild on 27/28 August. Attendance at the forum is a condition of acceptance if selected.

Application details can be found on the NZ Equestrian website: Young Riders - Senior Newcomers
