Dressage New Zealand is hosting an FEI endorsed Regional Dressage Forum at Massey University, Manfield Park on 27-28 August 2011. Guest trainer will be Washington based Jeremy Steinberg, Youth Coach for the United States Equestrian Federation, who is replacing Susanne Miesner.

Steinberg says “I have a real passion for the less than average horse becoming a Grand Prix horse and have trained a lot of them in my life so that is something that always gets me going.  I believe in really "Teaching" as opposed to coaching and have a strong conviction for training riders to become thinking riders who can problem solve and work on their own as most of us have to on a daily basis.  I think that is a huge part of the USEF Youth Coaching appointment as I am very outspoken about riders learning to be self sufficient and believing in themselves."

Steinberg is really excited about being invited to present at the forum comes highly recommended by international US Grand Prix competitor Debbie McDonald.

Susanne Miesner (GER) who was originally secured as guest trainer for the forum has unexpectedly cancelled but has been replaced by Steinberg at the last hour.

Trond Asmyr, Switzerland based FEI Dressage Director, so popular at the 2009 forum,  will make his second trip downunder to represent the FEI along with Susie Hoovenaars (AUS), newly appointed FEI 5* judge. Their presentations will help us bridge the geographical gap between the development of the sport in this region and the international European hub and give an overview of our region’s status  in the global dressage community.

Massey University will lead some very interesting sessions using both local and international expertise and will focus on hoof balance & shoeing,  problems and corrective actions,  anatomy & preventative care of the lower limbs, equine physio and veterinary management of the young horse in training to ensure a long and healthy competitive career

The forum will begin at 10am on Saturday 27th and finish at 4.00pm on Sunday 28th.
