Australian Young Horse Champion San Jose has passed away following complications after colic surgery. The 6-year old Hanoverian stallion was owned and ridden by Matthew Dowsley.

" He has left a deep hole in our hearts," said a bereaved Dowsley. "He was extremely special and enjoyed life and loved me immensely. He was my friend."

At the 2010 Dressage with the Stars Australian Young Horse Championships in Werribee, Australia, Dowsley and San Jose (by Sandro Hit x Rubinstein x Weltmeyer) won the 6-year old championship and was proclaimed "Champion of Champions" as best youngster of the 4, 5 and 6-year olds.
