At the 2008 CDI Verden, Hubertus Schmidt retired the 16-year old Hanoverian mare Wansuele Suerte from competition and announced that the chestnut mare has been sold to the U.S.A. where she will become a schoolmaster for an amateur dressage rider.

Wansuele Suerte is bred by Conrad Hogrefe and was owned by Martina Teichert. Teichert purchased the mare as a 5-year old at the 1997 Verden Spring Elite Auction under the auction name "Wie Noch Nie". Hubertus Schmidt trained the horse for more than 10 years and won Olympic, European and World Championship team gold. The pair also won the individual silver medal at the 2005 European Dressage Championships in Hagen, Germany.

At the end of her international show career, Wansuele Suerte was difficult to keep sound for the highest level of competition. Schmidt and Teichert decided to retire the mare in Verden but have also sold her to the U.S.A. The mare will enjoy the rest of her days in sunny Florida at Michelle Gibson's Diamante Farms, where new owner Joanne Stoudenmier will give her a decent retirement as well as some conditional training

Stoudenmier had to sign a contract in which she promised never to compete the mare again at a championships event or sell her to someone else. "We didn't want that somebody would get the idea of qualifying Wansuela for another Championships," Hubertus Schmidt said.
