British Youth Riders Warm Up for CDI Competitions in Europe

2007 British Youth Rider Selection Trials

In Great Britain, the youth riders' qualifying competitions for the European Championships have started. Two major competitions took place these last few weeks, where the British pony, junior and young riders could ride themselves in the picture to become selected for CDI competitions in Europe

this spring and ultimately for the 2007 European Pony, Junior and Young Riders Championships.

Thompson, Bates and Perry were the grand winners of the team championship test classes held att the show at Myerscough College, March 10-11, 2007. In the Pony riders division, Alice Thompson and her German bred Donnerblitz scored an impressive 71.05% and stayed ahead of Alex Barr on the German pony Devito (69.34%). Winning junior rider Keri Bates created a big gap with the second placed combination. Aboard Donna Parrina, Bates scored 70.13%. Routiniers Anne Marie Perry and Forrest Fire won the young riders team test with 68.89%. New comer Amber De Savary placed second aboard Havana Victoria with 66.11%

At big affiliated show at Sheepgate Equestrian in Lincolnshire, GBR, March 23-25, 2007, Thompson wielded the axe of power in the pony division. Aboard Donnerblitz, she won three out of four classes she had entered in. The icing on the cake was the victory in the pony kur to music with 78.75%. Natasha Leak and DHI Langar placed second with 77.75%.

The junior and young riders division at Sheepgate were quite small. Melissa Beer and Celestial King won all four classes they had entered and their highest score was 67.50%. The young riders division was tiny. Louise Justesen and Real McCoy won the team test (71.11%) and Prix St Georges (67.00%), while Shelley Bishop and Picco were the only riders in the team test on Sunday, so they won with 64.44%
