Herzensdieb, 2005 Trakehner Licensing Champion, Sold to the U.S.A.

At the auction following the 2005 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany, the licensing Champion Herzensdieb sold for the top price of 275,000 euro. Americans Doug and Louise Leatherdale purchased this Tambour x Tivano x Gipsy King offspring.

Herzendieb will be joining His Highness at Jens Meyer's stallion station in Dorum and will be trained by Klaus Balkenhol.

The Reserve Champion of this year's Trakehner licensing was Iffezheim, a Connery out of Isar VI (by Balfour xx). He sold for 120,000 euro to Bavaria.

Three further stallions received the premium status. Hertentanz, by Axis out of Herzlani (by Kostolany) who is owned and bred by Philip von Schöning, Union Jack (by Louidor x Bartholdy) and Mon Baron (by Munchhaussen x Herzruf).

The most expensive non-licensed stallion was Elfenrat, a Hofrat x Buddenbrock son, selling for only 14,000 euro to Germany.

The average price for a licensed stallion was 59,000 euro. The average price for a non-licensed stallion was 9,570 euro.
