Flanders, the northern part of Belgium, has announced its expression of  interest to host the 2027 European Championships for dressage, para dressage, show jumping, eventing, and carriage driving.

The Belgian Equestrian Federation (KBRSF) and Horse Sport Flanders have joined forces and negotiated with discipline and event experts to stage these multi-discipline FEI European Championships. These two authorities will now negotiate with the Flemish government for funding.

"In Rotterdam the Belgian (jumping) team grabbed the European title. It is time that we are able to defend this title on our own soil. The next few months we'll start working to bring the European Championships in five disciplines to Flanders for 2027," said Glenn Maes, chair of Paardensport Vlaanderen. "We want to set the bar high. To plan such an event must boost horse sport in Flanders more. That's what we want to go for."

Stephan Detry, chair of the KBRSF, added that "it is an important goal for us to highlight the importance of the equine sector as a whole. We need to tread new paths and give our sport and the surrounding industry the necessary attention as well as show how closely knit horse and rider are with Flemish culture, tourism, veterinary medicine. We want to cast a light on all aspects. Euro 2027 needs to be a feast and a coronation of equine Flanders, Belgium and Europe."

They organising committee is looking into the venues that would be suitable for such a big size event.
